Regarding the Copenhagen museum numismatic collection, back in 1966 I visited the British Museum, The Hague museum and the Copenhagen museum and, at that time when security and advance permission was not an issue, I was permitted entry into their vault rooms as just an interested collector.

I was amazed at the American numismatic treasures held in Copenhagen. The 1795 dollar was the least of them.

I distinctly recall handling raw in my fingertips a superb gem Unc Noe 1 fully round broad planchet 1652 Noe 1 Oak Tree shilling and a superb proof bust quarter, among other startling early U.S. whose memory has faded these 60+ years ago. There was no immediate information on how these coins came to be donated.

Prior to that I’d discovered coin theft at the British Museum vault room where a circulated 1829 half dime had been inserted into the wood tray that had held a superb Unc 1792 half disme which had a circular tag indicating it had been donated in 1800 by either Sir Joseph Banks or his sister Sophia Banks.
