Also from Brad: The M.J. Sullivan Collection of Pre-Turban Half Dollars (1794-1807) was assembled over the last decade with a focus on PCGS certified, original surface, eye appeal, and quality coins. The collection was developed with two themes: 1) Visually eye catching ultra-late die states; or 2) Premium quality higher grade major type coins. In addition, some R-5 and R-6 rarities will appeal to the advanced collector. This offering of 35 coins includes something for any type-coin or early half collector. Examples from the collection include a 1794, PCGS VF-30, 104-a with reverse CUD and premium surfaces and eye appeal. The 1802, PCGS AU-53 is traceable back more than 100-years to the Randall-Garrett-Pryor-Sullivan collections. An 1805/4, O-102-a, PCGS-55, CAC is the highest-grade late die state with an amazing obverse bisecting crack.

The year’s first issue of the John Reich Journal is at the printers and will be delivered to me early next week. They should begin showing up in mailboxes by the end of the week. Anyone not receiving theirs by the end of the month should contact me for a replacement.
There is an overdue dues notice in about 50 of the issues going out. This means you missed the regular dues notice in the last issue and this one will be your last if you do not send JRCS Treasure David Perkins a check ASAP! The second issue for the year will be going out in July.
That being said, I do not have anything to publish in that next issue. A couple authors have promised something and the Bust Dollar Census will appear in that issue. Collectors of dollars should send David Perkins your information as soon as possible so he can begin working on the census. I also need other submissions to fill out the issue. Please send me something to publish by May 15th.
Hope to see some of you at the Central States Show in Chicago the end of the month. Stop by and say hello at table 1400.

Famed, popular collector’s set of Bust Dollars, other rarities will be sold in CSNS and New Orleans
(Lincroft, NJ—February 23, 2022). Legend Rare Coin Auctions is honored to have been selected by the estate of longtime collector Dale Friend to sell his collection. For years, Dale’s name has been connected to many amazing coins, having built numerous collections over the many decades before his death in 2021, at the age of 80.
“Dale was a friend to both Legend Rare Coin Auctions and Legend Numismatics,” said Laura Sperber, founder of LRCA, and owner of Legend Numismatics. “Over the years, he bought and sold coins directly with Legend and through LRCA’s Regency Auctions. I am honored and humbled that his family chose LRCA to help sell the core of his collections.”
Dale spent years working on his Bust dollar collection, which will be featured in Regency Auction 51, an official auction of the Central States Numismatic Society Convention, in Schaumberg, IL. Graded MS68 by PCGS and being CAC approved, this is a true stopper for anyone who has been interested in building the absolute finest set of Barber half dollars.
“One of Dale’s favorite coins, was this 1892-O Micro O Barber half dollar, and it is very easy to see why,” explained Ms. Sperber. “It is the undisputed finest known, and has a provenance that goes back to Lyman Low’s July 1903 auction sale; and with its amazing, pristine surfaces, it is likely this coin was consigned to that sale by someone who acquired it directly from the New Orleans mint at the time of issue.”
