Silas M. Perkins
Silas M. Perkins died of wounds sustained at Cold Harbor on May 31, 1864. He was accidentally shot in the foot while in his tent. He is buried at Village Cemetery in Kennebunkport, Maine.
Silas was the son of Silas P. Perkins (1803-1883) and Eliza A. Foss (1810-1862).
He was the grandson of Stephen Perkins (1765-1833) and Alice Stone (1769-1850).
He was the great grandson of Abner Perkins (1730-1811) and Anna Perkins.

The second coin listed on the linked file is the 1832 LM-2, R-3. PCGS AU55 (81876910) and after studying it today there are some observations that can be added to the listing for the variety in the Half Dime Book.
This variety 32 LM2 has Reverse M in its’ 8th and last use, which is quite remarkable! Both examples I have, this coin and a VF raw coin, are rotated counterclockwise to about 11:20 or so, about 20 degrees. The die lapping below the RI in the scroll has caused the field to bulge in that area. The die crack going down from the right wing tip continues to the right side of the dentil to the right of the period. Also on some examples shown on the Coinfacts page for this variety that crack also extends up from the right wing tip into the feathers part of the way up the wing. Then like the crack noted through the tops of MER, there is also a crack through the tops of UN, seen on this coin and on some of the Coinfacts coins.

W. David Perkins Numismatics will have Table 1011 at the Central States coin show this coming week. Jim Matthews Rare Coins (and Jim!) will also be at Table 1011. We will have early silver, Type and other Numismatic items for sale.
Dave will have for sale a number of early dollars including two 1795 Centered Bust Dollars along with a dozen or so Draped Bust, Heraldic Eagle Dollars including a 1799/8 15 Stars in PCGS VF35 (CAC) and an 1802/1 in PCGS VF20. Also for sale is a rare and very nice 1797 O-101 Half Dollar graded PCGS F15 (see photo below). This is the first 1797 50C that I have owned and is so fresh that it hasn’t been sent to CAC yet.
I’ll only have one gold coin, at least at the start of the show, but it’s a good one – 1862 Clark, Gruber & Co. 2 ½$ in NGC AU55 (CAC). Made in Denver….
In addition, I’m looking to buy quality early silver and type coins.
This should be a great show with more dealers, collectors, and tables than in the recent past, a Legend Auction (with our own Brad Karoleff as auctioneer!), and onsite grading by PCGS.
